Overview
We are working with a Japanese-listed organisation seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to lead its financial strategy, capital markets activities, and investor relations function.


The business operates as a publicly listed entity on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value creation, disciplined financial management, and proactive capital markets engagement. The organisation is seeking to strengthen its executive leadership team to support ongoing growth, market value enhancement, and improved investor communication.

This is a highly strategic executive role, reporting directly to the President and Board of Directors, with full responsibility for financial management, capital structure optimisation, investor relations, and market value development across the listed entity.

The Role
We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial, capital markets, and investor relations activities across a publicly listed organisation in Japan.

This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for financial performance, capital strategy, market communications, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping corporate value, engaging with the investment community, and ensuring robust financial governance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Control
  • Oversee all accounting, budgeting, treasury, and financial analysis functions
  • Lead overall financial operations and performance management across the organisation
  • Ensure robust financial planning, forecasting, and reporting processes
  • Drive financial discipline and operational efficiency across business units

Capital Markets & Financing
  • Lead equity and debt financing activities across capital markets
  • Optimise capital structure and financing strategy to support long-term growth objectives
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, investors, and capital market stakeholders
  • Support strategic financing initiatives and corporate funding requirements

Investor Relations (IR) & Market Communication
  • Manage relationships with institutional investors, securities firms, and equity research analysts
  • Lead earnings announcements, capital market roadshows, and investor communications
  • Develop and execute investor relations strategy aligned with corporate objectives
  • Ensure transparent, consistent communication with the investment community

Market Value & Strategic Enhancement
  • Drive shareholder return initiatives and market expectation management strategies
  • Develop and execute initiatives to enhance corporate valuation and market capitalisation
  • Support long-term strategic planning from a financial and capital markets perspective
  • Align financial strategy with broader corporate growth and value creation objectives

Compliance, Reporting & Governance
  • Oversee financial reporting, disclosure obligations, internal controls, and risk management
  • Ensure full compliance with Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) listing requirements and regulations
  • Lead corporate governance and financial disclosure frameworks
  • Ensure accuracy, transparency, and integrity across all financial reporting processes

Experience and Background

Essential
  • Fluent in both Chinese and Japanese, with the ability to operate professionally in both languages
  • Strong track record in CFO-level or senior finance leadership roles within listed companies
  • Deep expertise in investor relations, financing, and market value management
  • In-depth understanding of Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) listing rules and Japanese capital markets regulations
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, capital markets transactions, and listed company compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in equity and debt financing execution

Desirable
  • Experience within publicly listed multinational organisations
  • Exposure to cross-border capital markets and international investor engagement
  • Background in driving shareholder value creation and corporate transformation initiatives
